I feel kinda bad about forgetting to update this anywhere near as much as I should, but in my defence - I'm a new (and very proud) Dad!

Since my last update (In May, whoops!) I haven't been racing as much as just being a parent and getting used to being a Dad. A new job in south Leicester has given me a 32 mile round trip so I've slowly been able to start sorting out my training plan ready for next year and getting a bit of training in for the last few races I have left this season.

Hi, I'm guessing by the fact that you’re here, reading this article that you already know a bit about me. But because I’ve got your attention, why not abuse that right and use it to let you know a little more. So I’m Dave. For a whole 18 years I was brought up on the urban streets of Crossnamuckley in God’s own country; Northern Ireland. My next door neighbour’s house was a field, and so was the one next to them. It wasn't long before my brothers and I were out causing chaos on bikes. I'm not entirely sure on how it happened, but somehow Mum and Dad convinced us that going to the local races would be more fun than our own longest skid competitions (it wasn't)!

After an MSG free July, I was looking forward to this one. Thetford feels like my home ground, plus it's only an hour up the road so I was already looking forward to not having to get up ridiculously early on a Sunday.

I arrived at 8.30am to sunshine - the weather was perfect. Having signed on and said a few hellos I set off for a gentle pre-ride. The course was very open, with only a few short bits of single track and one steep drop off. This was a race for the roadies - not my ideal as I still struggle with my stamina on the open parts.
